The Dancer’s Diet

The eating habit of a dancer is very important. As a dancer, there is a great nutrititional demand that is placed on the body. The body’s systems depend on fuel for their tasks in the dance. The muscles and tissues must be flexible and strong. The nervous system relies on the right balance of vitamins and minerals so the dancer’s performance will be executed in confidence. The dancer must have sufficient energy to be able to withstand the various movements that will be needed for his or her dance. She must eat for energy. Therefore, the serious dancer’s diet has no room for compromise. As dancers in the kingdom of God we must pay attention to our spiritual diets.

Daniel knew that he had to purpose in His mind that he would not eat dainties and be drunken with artificial sugars because he needed His strength to come from the Spirit. He understood the concept from Deuteronomy 8, which says, that man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that came out of the mouth of God.

Dancers must study and eat the Word. The strength that is needed to dance in the spirit comes from reading the word of God. A well balanced spiritual diet is essential. In Isaiah 37:3 the bible tells us that the king tore his clothes off in shame when he realized there was no spiritual strength.

‘And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.’

Our dance must produce a harvest. We are living in times where we must bring forth a harvest in our dance. How’s your spiritual diet dancer?

May your life be filled with laughter and dance,
Rev. Lucie Poirier
